Terms of Use

Last updated: October 20, 2026

These terms explain what Dewpoint is, what it isn't, and what we each agree to when you use the Dewpoint website or iOS app.

By creating an account or using Dewpoint, you agree to these Terms of Use. Read our Privacy Policy and Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy for how we handle your personal, skin, and health-related information.

1. Dewpoint is not medical advice

This is the most important thing on this page.

Dewpoint is an educational and organizational tool. It helps you identify a general skin type from a short quiz, read plain-English summaries of skincare basics and cited sources, build and order a morning and evening routine, track the products on your shelf, and log your daily habits and progress photos over time. That is all it does.

Dewpoint does not provide a medical diagnosis, clinical advice, or treatment, and it does not cure, heal, or prevent any disease or skin condition. Nothing in the app is a medical opinion, and nothing in it comes from a clinician who has examined you.

Quiz results and step-by-step guidance. Your quiz result and the “Your routine, step by step” guidance are general categories generated from your answers, not a dermatological assessment. Where the app suggests seeing a dermatologist (for example, if you select deep or scarring breakouts), that note is general information, not medical triage.

Do not use Dewpoint in place of professional care. Talk to a doctor, dermatologist, obstetrician, or pharmacist about anything persistent, painful, spreading, or worrying, about any reaction to a product, and before starting or changing products if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, breastfeeding, taking prescription medication, or managing a diagnosed skin condition. If you think you are having a serious allergic reaction, seek urgent medical help immediately. Do not consult an app.

Allergy, conflict, and pregnancy flags. Ingredient conflict warnings, time-of-day notes, avoid-list flags (for ingredients, products, or text terms you mark as avoid or sensitive), and optional pregnancy flags are automated checks against the catalogue data we hold. Catalogue ingredient lists can be partial, outdated, or reformulated by brands without notice, and custom products you add by name are not checked against ingredient data. Pregnancy flags reflect ingredients the American Academy of Dermatology lists to avoid during pregnancy and are not individualized medical guidance. A product or routine with no warning is not confirmed safe for you. Always read the current ingredient list and directions on the physical package.

Shelf “toss by” and expiry dates. Period-after-opening (PAO) and expiry dates on your shelf are reminders calculated from the dates and months you enter. They do not guarantee that a product is still fresh, stable, or safe. Always check the product itself and stop using anything that has passed its printed expiry date or changed in smell, color, or texture.

References and cited sources. Our References page lists the clinical guidelines, systematic reviews, and consensus papers cited in the app, including disclosures where a cited study received industry funding. Citing a source summarizes what that publication reported; it is not a promise of what an ingredient or product will do on your skin.

You are responsible for what you put on your skin. Patch-test new products, and stop using anything that irritates you.

2. Affiliate links, retailer links, and how we make money

On the Dewpoint website, some product pages include affiliate links marked Affiliate link (including links to Amazon under the Amazon Associates program, where we earn a commission from qualifying purchases). Clicking an affiliate link does not change the price you pay. Products may also link directly to a brand's own store or to third-party retailers (such as Ulta, Sephora, Target, Boots, Walmart, CVS, Walgreens, or Dermstore) with no affiliate tag and no commission. In the iOS app, Amazon affiliate links are not shown.

We do not accept payment from brands to rank, feature, or recommend products. Products are matched and ordered solely using your quiz answers, your avoid list, and our ingredient data — never based on whether a link earns a commission.

When you open a brand or retailer link (in a new tab on the web or in the in-app browser sheet on iOS), you leave Dewpoint. We don't control retailer prices, stock, shipping, returns, or the accuracy of a retailer's product page. Your purchase is solely between you and that seller. Because brands change formulas and retailers display outdated listings, always check the ingredient list on the package you receive.

You can always look up any product on your own, or add custom products to your routine and shelf. Nothing in Dewpoint requires you to buy anything.

3. Your account, invite beta, and security

You can take the skin quiz and read our public pages without an account. You need an account to save quiz results, build your routine and shelf, set an avoid list, log daily check-ins and skipped steps, upload progress photos, and turn on reminders.

Dewpoint is currently in an invite-only private beta, so creating an account requires a valid invite code. On the website, if you don't have a code, you can join the launch waitlist with your email address.

You must be at least 16 years old to use Dewpoint. We ask for your date of birth to check this requirement. If you are under 16, please do not create an account or submit personal information.

You agree to provide an accurate email address and date of birth, choose a password that meets our security rules (at least 8 characters and not found in known data-breach lists), and keep your sign-in credentials confidential. If you turn on two-step sign-in (using an authenticator app) in Settings, you are responsible for keeping access to your authenticator app. Let us know at support@dewpointapp.com right away if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.

You can download a copy of your data or delete your account at any time from the Account page (or delete your account from the policy update screen if you choose not to accept updated policies). Deleting your account immediately removes your active profile, quiz results, routine, shelf, allergy list, daily calendar logs, progress photos, notes, Web Push subscriptions, and reminder records, and cancels any scheduled reminders on your phone; rolling database backups held by our hosting provider expire automatically within up to 30 days. Once your account is deleted, we cannot recover it.

4. Your content and sharing

Your progress photos, notes, custom product names, custom tags, and logs are yours. You keep all rights to them.

You give us only the narrow permission we need to run Dewpoint: resizing and re-encoding your uploaded photos on your device, storing your content securely, and showing it back to you across the devices where you sign in. We don't use your photos or notes to train AI or machine-learning models, we don't sell your data, and we don't share it with advertisers or skincare brands.

Progress photos are stored in a private bucket and can be opened only by your signed-in account using short-lived links. Other Dewpoint users cannot see your photos.

If you choose to share your quiz result link (/r/<slug>) or use the share sheet to send your result or routine consistency streak, anyone you send that link or text to will be able to see what you shared (for a result link: your skin type, sensitivity status, and concerns — never your full quiz answers, allergy list, photos, or notes).

Please don't upload anything that isn't yours to upload, anything illegal, or photos of other people without their permission.

5. Using Dewpoint fairly

Don't break the law, access or probe other people's accounts or data, guess or brute-force invite codes, bypass rate limits or security controls, scrape or bulk-download the app's product and ingredient catalogue or educational text, resell the service, or overload or disrupt our infrastructure. Don't present Dewpoint outputs as medical advice to someone else. You are always free to post honest reviews or opinions about Dewpoint. Information you give us must be accurate, and we may suspend or terminate an account that breaks these terms.

6. Our content and the iOS app

We own Dewpoint, including its code, design, educational guides, step-by-step copy, and curated catalogue structure. You may use them for your personal, non-commercial skincare organization. If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them freely to improve Dewpoint without compensating you.

If you download or use the Dewpoint iOS app, you acknowledge that these Terms of Use are between you and Flynn Kavanaugh, operating as Dewpoint, and not with Apple Inc. Apple is not responsible for the iOS app or its content, has no obligation to furnish maintenance or support services for it, and is not responsible for addressing any claims by you or any third party relating to the iOS app (including product liability, legal or regulatory compliance, or intellectual property claims). When using the iOS app, you must also comply with applicable third-party terms of agreement, such as your wireless data service agreement. Apple and Apple's subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms of Use as they relate to your license of the iOS app, and upon your acceptance of these terms, Apple will have the right to enforce them against you as a third-party beneficiary.

7. As is, and our liability

We work to keep Dewpoint accurate and available, but we provide it “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We can't promise it is error-free, uninterrupted, or suited to your particular skin. Skincare science is general and evolving, reasonable experts disagree, and product formulas or ingredient data may be incomplete or out of date.

To the fullest extent the law allows, Flynn Kavanaugh, operating as Dewpoint, is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, for any skin reaction or outcome from relying on information, flags, or reminders in the app, or for any product you purchase from a third-party retailer, and our total liability to you for all claims is limited to the amount you have paid us to use Dewpoint in the 12 months before the claim (which, for a free account, is $0).

Some places don't allow these limits. Where that's true, they don't apply to you.

Keep your own copies of any photos or notes you want to make sure you never lose.

8. Changes and ending things

We may update these Terms of Use. The date at the top identifies this version. When we make significant changes, we will ask you to review and accept the updated version in the app before you continue using your account. If you do not agree to the updated terms, you can sign out or delete your account right from that screen.

Features may change or end, and the service may occasionally be unavailable. You can delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms or are used to harm others or the service.

9. Resolving disputes

Try talking first. Email legal@dewpointapp.com about a dispute. You and Dewpoint will first spend 30 days trying to resolve it informally.

Arbitration and class waiver. If we cannot resolve it, you and Dewpoint agree to binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, by video or in Tippecanoe County, Indiana. Dewpoint pays filing fees beyond what filing in court would cost you. Claims must be individual, with no class or representative actions and no jury trial. Either side may use small-claims court for a qualifying claim. This section does not limit rights that cannot legally be waived.

Your choice to opt out. Email legal@dewpointapp.com within 30 days of accepting these Terms of Use to opt out of arbitration. Any court matter will be in an Indiana state or federal court in Tippecanoe County, Indiana.

10. Legal bits

Indiana law governs these Terms of Use, without regard to its conflict of law rules. If one part is unenforceable, the rest still applies. These terms and the policies they refer to are the entire agreement between you and us about Dewpoint. A delay in enforcing a right does not waive it.
